Noni Madueke has ‘a lot to talk about’ with Frank Lampard

Despite there clearly being no love lost there, Madueke has admitted he would still love to spend time with Frank Lampard, who was in charge of the club during Madueke’s early tenure in West London.

When asked who he would invite to a dinner party, he said to Viaplay: “I’d probably say Frank Lampard. He was my coach early on in my Premier League career. We’d have a lot to talk about for sure.”

Madueke went on to work under both Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca, however his relationship with the latter never reached this kind of level.

The Italian infamously left Madueke out of the squad for a Boxing Day fixture against Fulham as a result of his conduct off the pitch.

What Lampard has said about Madueke

Despite Lampard’s second tenure in charge of the club being a largely negative time for the Blues, Madueke stood out for praise.

Lampard said back in 2023: “I think Noni’s a good example of an individual that in the first week of training was a clear talent but I wanted to see a bit more.

“I had that conversation with him and he showed me more and he’s come into the games and showed me his personality as much as his talent, to come in, in a tough moment, take the ball and show glimpses of his talent.”

The England international struggled to break into the Chelsea side on a regular basis when the likes of Pedro Neto started to come into the club, and now the Blues are even happier with their attacking options with Morgan Rogers joining them.
