Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has been discussing Chelsea ahead of his side’s trip to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Chelsea and Leeds will face off in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with Xabi Alonso’s men looking to bounce back from their defeat to Arsenal.

Overall, the Blues have still made a good start to the season and have impressed Farke in the process.

Let’s settle this, Chelsea are better off with Reece James at right-back… 🤔

Do you prefer James in midfield or at right-back – and why?

Daniel Farke claims Chelsea are stronger

Last term, Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League, missing out on European qualification as a result.

However, compared to that team that just about managed to finish in the top half of the table, Farke believes Chelsea are now much stronger.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, which has been shared by Leeds’ official club website, the German said: “They have been stronger than they were last year. I judge more or less also like the offence, how they play with [Joao] Pedro, with [Cole] Palmer, with [Morgan] Rogers. There are not many teams in Europe who have such a quality. And also, if you look at the options on the bench, it is outstanding quality.

“So, they definitely have a top manager and also top players but we are looking at ourselves, and we also want to be competitive. We travel respectful but also not in fear. We want to go through into the next round.”

The Blues sold one of their best players during the summer transfer window, Enzo Fernandez, with the Argentine joining Manchester City on deadline day.

He was Chelsea’s second-highest goalscorer behind Joao Pedro last season, netting 15 times in 54 appearances. Nevertheless, even after his departure, Chelsea still look stronger overall.

Chelsea do look stronger despite conceding goals

It is still very early in the season, so many will be wary of drawing too many conclusions about this Chelsea team, especially the club’s biggest critics.

However, they would be lying if they said Chelsea do not look stronger compared to last season. As Farke alluded to, their frontline of Palmer, Pedro and Rogers has really elevated the team.

On paper, it is a much better attack than what Liam Rosenior and Enzo Maresca were fielding in the previous campaign, while they are also getting the job done on the pitch as a cohesive unit, which is the most important thing.

As of now, Chelsea are conceding too many chances and goals, yet the team do look stronger with Rogers, Maxence Lacroix and Emiliano Martinez in the XI.

Moises Caicedo is closing in on a return, and once he is back, that will be the icing on the cake hopefully.
