Three Chelsea wonderkids who didn’t make it as Kendry Paez faces same fate

After a failed loan spell at River Plate, Paez has returned to Chelsea, but Xabi Alonso has confirmed that he is not part of his plans. Chelsea fans who were excited about his arrival will now have fears about the 19-year-old going down the same path as some of the club’s previous wonderkids who could not quite make it at Stamford Bridge.

Charly Musonda

Charly Musonda is one of those wonderkids who never managed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge despite the talent he possessed.

However, while Paez’s character has been questioned at times, there was no such issue with Musonda. Injuries are what held the Belgian back.

They were so bad that Musonda was forced to retire at the age of just 28.

Gael Kakuta

Gael Kakuta arguably had just as much talent as Musonda, but he also failed to make it in west London.

In total, Kakuta made just 16 appearances for Chelsea. In the end, unfortunately, the former attacker could not live up to the hype and was not worth all the fuss.

Chelsea received a transfer ban following his move from Lens, although that was eventually lifted.

Josh McEachran

Another name that Chelsea fans cannot forget is Josh McEachran. McEachran made his Chelsea debut in the Champions League at the age of just 17!

McEachran was once compared to Frank Lampard but finished his Chelsea career with zero senior goals after making just 22 appearances for the club.

We still hope that Paez can be a success at Chelsea and not head down the same route as the likes of Musonda, Kakuta and McEachran.

But it is quite clear that things are not going to plan for Paez at Chelsea at the moment.
