Joe Cole describes Morgan Rogers as an ‘absolute monster’

It was in vain in the end, but Rogers managed to score a fantastic goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

It lit up the match, according to Cole, who has described Rogers as an “absolute monster”.

Speaking on The Dressing Room Podcast, the Chelsea legend said: “Morgan Rogers, he’s an absolute monster, I didn’t realise. I knew he was a top player, but that first touch of the ball, bang, it just lit the game up.”

That goal against Arsenal means Rogers now has three goal contributions in as many Premier League games this season.

He scored in Chelsea’s opening game against Fulham, which was his debut, before assisting Pedro Neto the match after, a 4-3 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at home.

Chelsea paid £117m to sign Rogers from Aston Villa, but not much is being said about his price tag at the moment.

Morgan Rogers’ physicality is unmatched

It is not hard to see why Cole has described Rogers as a monster. The 24-year-old is a real athlete.

First of all, Rogers is 6’2″, which makes him quite tall for an attacker. He is also quite muscular, using his strength and height to protect the ball extremely well.

When Rogers is running with it, there is no stopping him at times. The England international has so much power in his running that he can look like a fast-approaching train!

It is early days, but Rogers already looks worth the £117m fee Chelsea paid for him. Other players went for similar fees during the summer transfer window and will not make the same kind of impact that an attacker like Rogers will.

He has enough quality to score 10+ goals in the Premier League for Chelsea this term, while his assist numbers should be similar.
