Chelsea carry out background work on MLS star that has caught Mauricio Pochettino’s eye
The transfer window might have shut, but that has not stopped Chelsea from scouring the market for their next potential signing. The latest name linked with the Blues is American talent Julian Hall.
Chelsea added more experience to their squad during in the summer, but that did not stop BlueCo’s drive to sign young talent. Honest Ahanor, Denner, Geovany Quenda and Harrison Bettoni all joined Chelsea.

The window’s deadline has not deterred Chelsea’s pursuit of talent, and the latest player of interest to the Blues is New York Red Bulls talent, Julian Hall. The 18-year-old has been impressing across the pond.

According to TeamTalk, a whole host of European clubs want 18-year-old Hall. Chelsea, Leeds United, Man City, Aston Villa, Brentford and Brighton are among his suitors, and that’s just from the Premier League.
A seven-time USA U17 international, Hall has already clocked up 70 appearances for NYRB, having a hand in 22 goals. Hall is a left-sided winger, but has still managed to score 12 goals in 27 games this season.
Hall second only to Freddy Adu on major MLS honours list
In June 2024, Hall opened his account for the Red Bulls, the first of 16 goals he has scored for the MLS giants. At 16 years and 87 days, it saw him become the second-youngest-ever goalscorer in MLS history.
Only United States legend Freddy Adu has scored in the MLS at a younger age, doing so for DC United when he was just 14. Hall will be hoping to maximise his potential, something Adu could not manage.
Mauricio Pochettino is keeping an eye on teenager Hall
Pochettino has signed on as USMNT manager and will remain in the position until the next World Cup. He has promised to blood the next crop of American talent, and Hall is one of the best young players in MLS.
He and Philadelphia’s Cavan Sullivan were recently put to Pochettino as future United States international players. Pochettino said: “We are very happy about having all these potentially good players being young.
“We need to be careful because when you are young, you need to be confident, you need to have trust in yourself, and believe that you can perform. But the thing is, it’s a limit. Balance is the most important.”
Chelsea can sign Hall immediately, as he is now 18. Unlike Benji Flowers, who is still only 15 and will move to Stamford Bridge in 2029, when he turns 18, as per the rules on buying teenage talents from overseas.
