Pep Chavarria drops brutally honest verdict about Chelsea’s defence
Pep Chavarria and Chelsea conceded two more goals this weekend after drawing 2-2 with Hull City.
One of Chelsea’s attackers, Morgan Rogers, gave the Blues an early lead before Hull managed to equalise. That has been the theme of Chelsea’s season so far: scoring early and then conceding after.
It was no different in the Hull game, resulting in Chavarria firing a message to his fellow defenders and the rest of the team.

Pep Chavarria warns Chelsea backline they need to defend better
Going forward, Chavarria has urged his Chelsea teammates that they need to improve defensively.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website after the game, the 28-year-old said: “I think that when we scored the first goal we controlled the game, but when they equalised Hull did good things.
Our team is very competitive and we always have a lot of energy to score goals, but we need to defend better, I think that is the key.”
Chavarria is yet to start a game for Chelsea in the Premier League since his arrival from Ray Vallecano. However, that could change in the Blues’ next match against Brentford.
Jorrel Hato did not have the best game against Hull and was subbed off for Chavarria at half-time. Bearing that in mind, it would not be a shock if Xabi Alonso decided to hand Chavarria his first Premier League start on Friday.
The Spaniard has impressed in the Carabao Cup and put in a much better performance against Hull than Hato.

Chelsea’s defensive record this season
In total, Chelsea have already conceded nine goals in the Premier League this season. It is one of the worst records in the division.
They have also failed to keep a single clean sheet. Had it not been for their sensational attack, they would probably be in the relegation zone with the way they have been defending.
Chelsea’s next match is against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, which is going to be a tough fixture. You can definitely see Alonso’s men conceding another goal or two, but if Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro can keep up their fine form, there is obviously a chance that they will return to Stamford Bridge with all three points.
