Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford: 7/10 star gives hope but Morgan Rogers struggles
The Chelsea Chronicle have handed out player ratings from Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League.
The Blues’ woes from set-pieces continued as Jaidon Anthony headed home the only goal of the game, before Igor Thiago and Fabio Carvalho put the final nails in the coffin late on.
Xabi Alonso was without Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Joao Pedro and Marco Palestra for the final league game before the international break, where there is plenty of work to be done on the training ground.

Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford
It was clear that the Blues XI which started the game looked disjointed and unable to create anything of note, but let’s take a look and see if anyone stood out as far as they are concerned.
Emi Martinez: 6/10
Another game without a clean sheet, although a set of goals Emi Martinez could do nothing about.
Wesley Fofana: 5/10
Arguably his best defensive performance in a while was undone when he lost Jaidon Anthony in the area for the opening goal. Still question marks about Wesley Fofana in possession too.
Maxence Lacroix: 6/10
Brought the composure as the last line of defence that the Blues were desperately missing against Hull. Barring injury, Maxence Lacroix should not be missing from the starting side.
Levi Colwill: 6/10
After a tough start to the season, Levi Colwill will be delighted to get a strong individual performance under his belt in the left centre-back position, even if it did not result in three points.
Pedro Neto: 6/10
Was guilty of missing Chelsea’s best chance of the first half, however continues to show improvement with the newfound defensive responsibilities he faces.
Jordan Henderson: 6/10
Jordan Henderson is not often the victim of the boo boys, but his first start coming against his former side saw that treatment for him tonight. Some nice touches, but could be accused of being too slow to get the Blues moving forwards.
Valentin Barco: 5/10
Given his first Premier League start, Valentin Barco was snappy in the challenge and always keen to get on the ball, although didn’t create anything of note.
Pep Chavarria: 7/10
Showed the tenacious style of play which Chelsea fans got used to with Marc Cucurella in the position. Should certainly be considered for more starts in the future.
Cole Palmer: 6/10
Chelsea’s most promising creative source to start the game, Cole Palmer’s influence faded throughout proceedings as they struggled to get back into the game.
Morgan Rogers: 4/10
Wasn’t afraid to have a go at goal, but was a little too easy to win the ball off at times and clearly missed the presence of Joao Pedro up front.
Danny Welbeck: 4/10
Struggled to make any impact on proceedings. The gap between Pedro and any replacement was only reinforced with this performance.
Chelsea lose at Brentford 3-0… thoughts on that performance?
What went wrong? 😳
Geovany Quenda: 6/10
Interestingly preferred to Estevao as the first attacking sub of the night.
Josh Acheampong: 6/10
Looked far more comfortable in possession than Fofana after replacing him. Should walk straight back into the XI after the international break.
Estevao Willian: N/A
Will surely be worried about his place in the side going forwards after only being given three minutes when the game was done and dusted.
Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli: N/A
Handed a first team Chelsea debut in the worst possible circumstances.
