Xabi Alonso should be very pleased with Estevao’s comments about his Chelsea future
Despite not having much experience in football, Estevao Willian spoke very well when asked about his future at Chelsea.
Estevao is yet to start a game in the Premier League this season, forcing him to wait for opportunities in the League Cup.
Breaking into a front three which consists of Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro has proved extremely difficult, with those three papering over a lot of the cracks at Stamford Bridge so far this season.

Estevao deals with questions about Chelsea future perfectly
Despite what must be clear frustration, Chelsea and Xabi Alonso will be delighted with how Estevao dealt with some of the questions fired his way during his time representing Brazil.
He said: “I think every coach has their own way of playing. Of course, we work every day, I give my best every day, and that’s what I do. We have quality players at Chelsea.
“So what I do is focus on what I can control. I try to give my best in training; when I get an opportunity, I try to give my best. It goes day after day. I try to seize every opportunity; I try to control everything.”
It would be very easy for the youngster to throw his toys out the pram, especially after some at the club saw Estevao as a starter this season.
Instead, the Brazil international has understood that he needs to earn his opportunities at Stamford Bridge this season, and seems motivated to do so through training and sporadic appearances.
His best opportunity to make a statement to Alonso may actually come away from West London, and with the national team during this break.
How can Xabi Alonso get Estevao Willian into the side? 🤔
The Brazilian has seen very little action under his new manager…
Estevao is set to feature for Brazil in friendlies against Australia and India, which offer him a chance to build up his form after not previously taking his chances in the League Cup.
He will not have the opportunity to build up a rapport with Chelsea teammate Pedro though, after the striker pulled out of the international squad through injury.
Estevao’s best bet of breaking into the side is with a change of formation at Stamford Bridge, allowing four attackers to start on the pitch at the same time.
This may take some time and patience, so it is good to see he has the latter at a time where outside noise has been rampant regarding his future at the club.
