The Blues have conceded at least two goals in every league game so far this season, and Chelsea fans are worried Colwill’s form is a sign of his injury woes catching up with him.

The defender missed nearly all of the 2025/26 season due to injury, and was thrown in for crucial games late in the campaign such as the FA Cup final, although they did not get the result they were hoping for.

For any player who suffers a serious injury, getting back to full form is always going to take time on the pitch, however for some they are never the same player.

Chelsea fans are well aware of this. Both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were looking as if they were going to be long-term regulars in the first team squad, however never recovered from their lengthy injury woes

While the Chelsea attackers were given plenty of praise by supporters, the defence were not looked on as fondly, with Colwill coming in for criticism.

While missing out on the England squad will be a short-term blow for Colwill, he will now have three weeks without any action where he is able to continue to work on his fitness, as well as spend some time getting to know what Xabi Alonso is expecting from his defenders.
