It would be fair to say that Bournemouth manager Marco Rose is far from happy with his team’s display against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Cherries travelled to Stamford Bridge and were thrashed 5-1 by the home side. They got off to the worst possible start when Jordan Henderson opened the scoring in just the second minute.

Henderson managed to make a bit of history on the day, becoming the oldest player in Chelsea’s history to be involved in three goals in a single Premier League match. The midfielder scored twice and also provided an assist.

Marco Rose slams Bournemouth for becoming the latest victims to succumb to Chelsea’s early pressure

This was not the first time that Chelsea scored an early goal. They have been doing it all season.

Xabi Alonso has been surprised by Chelsea’s start to games, stating that he has never managed a team with the ability to score early goals so frequently. The Blues are becoming renowned for it now, with Rose telling the media that his Bournemouth side were well aware of this early pattern in Chelsea games.

However, for Rose, Bournemouth did not act on the data or “information” they had in the right way, and he has now criticised his team for not doing so.

Chelsea put FIVE past Bournemouth – who was your Man of the Match?

Braces for Jordan Henderson and Joao Pedro 👀

Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo after the game, he said: “Yeah, we played not good, so we deserved the loss, especially if we start like we started in both halves of the game. I mean, after four minutes, I think we were 2-0 down.

“We knew that Chelsea is a team that starts well and scores many goals at the beginning of games. It’s our responsibility that we didn’t react the right way on this information.”

Morgan Rogers scored one minute after Henderson’s opener, meaning that Chelsea were already 2-0 up less than five minutes into the game. Bournemouth did pull one back later in the match, meaning that Alonso’s men have failed to keep a clean sheet once again, but other than that, everything went to plan for Chelsea.

Chelsea’s xG from Bournemouth victory will shock supporters

After the game, it was quite surprising to see what Chelsea’s xG was. Chelsea scored five times, yet the chances they had were not clear-cut ones.

By the full-time whistle, the Blues had amassed an xG total of just 1.17! It is incredible to think they could score five goals from a bunch of shots worth just 1.17 xG.

With ball strikers as good as Henderson, Rogers and Joao Pedro, though, maybe it should not be too much of a surprise.
