The five Chelsea players set for loan exit: £17m man played just 28 minutes on tour

Ahead of the Blues’ opener against West London rivals Fulham on August 24, Alonso has to sort out the future of a whole host of fringe players. Tosin Adarabioyo, for example, is being targeted by Benfica.

But many youngsters in need of game time who featured in Australia and Asia are now set to depart, after returning from tour. Below, we list the five players expected to leave on loan in the coming days.

Five players set to leave Chelsea on loan this week

Filip Jorgensen – Strasbourg

As reported widely by the likes of Fabrizio Romano and more, Jorgensen is set to join BlueCo’s other side, Strasbourg, on loan until the end of the season. It is a straight loan deal, without a permanent option.

It sees Strasbourg replace the loss of Mike Penders, who is now at Stamford Bridge and set to serve as no.2 to Robert Sanchez, unless the Blues sign a new goalkeeper. A deal is likely to be announced soon.

Benoit Badiashile – Napoli

For a while now, Badiashile has been linked with Napoli. Recent reports even suggested a deal between the Italian side and Chelsea had been done, which would see the defender join on loan with an option.

Nothing has surfaced in terms of an announcement. But Napoli continue to push for the defender, who cost Chelsea a whopping £35m. Badiashile was not a part of the travelling squad to Australia and Asia.

Ryan Kavuma-McQueen – Portsmouth

Tricky winger Kavuma-McQueen caught the eye in the 6-4 win against Western Sydney, creating Chelsea’s first goal of the tour by feeding Dastan Satpayev with a gorgeous pass. That was as good as it got.

He remained an unused sub against Tottenham, Juventus and Johor Darul Ta’zim, failing to be named on the bench against Milan. Reports say he is about to join Championship side Portsmouth on loan.

Omari Kellyman – Cardiff City

Kellyman was also on tour, coming on at half-time against WSW but was subbed 18 minutes later. The £17m signing also made a 10-minute cameo against Tottenham, but failed to feature thereafter.

An unused sub against Juventus, Kellyman was not on the bench for either game on the weekend, and now, Wales Online say Kellyman is due to return to Cardiff City on loan after playing a part in promotion.

Ishe Samuels-Smith – Notts County

Samuels-Smith is renowned for being the man who joined Strasbourg on loan last summer, only for the loan to be cancelled within the same window before he went on loan to Swansea. He struggled in Wales.

Just eight appearances followed, and now he is back at Chelsea. According to Pete O’Rourke, the 20-year-old is now due to complete a loan move to Notts County, who won promotion to League One last term.
