Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been given a glowing review by some of his former players, who were talking to Elliot Anderson ahead of his move to Manchester City.

After talking to City about a potential move when he was still in charge of Chelsea, Maresca is now in charge of the Premier League side in his first job since his Stamford Bridge exit.

They will have their own desires of winning the Premier League this season, and have seen their chances with the signing of Anderson, who moved for nearly the same price as Morgan Rogers to Chelsea.

Elliot Anderson told good things about Enzo Maresca by Chelsea players

The midfielder spent his summer with the England squad, which included Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah, who also worked under Maresca at Stamford Bridge.

Anderson told the Man City YouTube channel that after speaking to some Chelsea players, he has been left very excited about the prospect of working with Maresca this season.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve watched his teams over the past couple of years and spoke to a few of the lads from Chelsea and they all rate him very highly. So I’m really looking forward to getting to work with him.”

Maresca will not return to Stamford Bridge until April, with the Blues making the trip to the Etihad in December.

Xabi Alonso will be looking to achieve what his predecessor couldn’t manage and actually beat City at some stage of this season.

What system will Xabi Alonso use the most? Where will the likes of Marco Palestra, Reece James, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers all fit?

Anderson could be joined by Chelsea star at Man City

There are reports that Anderson could be joined in a new-look City midfield by Enzo Fernandez, who may be looking for a replacement to Rodri.

So far, there has been no incoming bid for the Argentine, despite him making it clear he wanted an exit from West London this summer.

A midfield of Anderson and Fernandez is incredibly impressive, and a partnership the Blues should not allow one of their rivals to form.

However, for the first time this summer there is a hope that the 2022 World Cup winner will stay at the club, bolstering Chelsea’s chances of an impressive season themselves.
