Just when it looked as if Chelsea were out of the race to sign a new midfielder this summer, Everton’s deadline day business could actually directly lead them to signing Lamine Camara.

Deadline day has already brought an end to the long-running Enzo Fernandez saga, with a deal being agreed for him to move to Manchester City for £125m.

Chelsea have already missed out on a large amount of midfielders this summer, and did not leave themselves much time to sign a suitable replacement for the Argentine.

However, a huge slice of luck seems to have fallen their way involving Camara’s Monaco, who need to sell before the transfer window comes to an end.

It looked as if Everton were going to sign Folarin Balogun this summer, however that move looks set to collapse due to issues with his medical.

Romain Molina has stated that as a result of this news, Monaco have dropped their asking price for Camara in the final hours of the transfer window.

He said: “Thiago Scouro was bragging and demanding 70 million this afternoon from Chelsea for Lamine Camara.

“After the recent events related to Balogun, the asking price has bizarrely dropped to around 50 + bonuses The outcome is near: will they have time to get the paperwork done?”

With the transfer window slamming shut at 11pm, Chelsea are going to have to be quick when it comes to negotiations to get this over the line in time.

There are real fears around the midfield options Xabi Alonso will have available for him if another option is not brought in following Fernandez’s departure.

Signing Camara should have been sorted earlier, but a huge slice of luck means it looks like Chelsea may get away with one this summer.
