The Premier League maestro Chelsea should be prioritising instead of Alex Scott and Adam Wharton
Chelsea need to sign a new midfielder in 2027, and that was made abundantly clear in their 2-1 loss to Arsenal last weekend.
At one point during the game, right-backs Reece James and Malo Gusto were both playing in midfield!
Chelsea wanted to sign Alex Scott in the summer transfer window, and there is an expectation that they will return for the Bournemouth star in the new year.
Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also thought to be on their radar, but there is another Premier League midfielder who should be at the top of their shortlist.

If Chelsea want to sign a midfielder with Premier League experience, they should be looking at Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister.
It was claimed that Mac Allister rejected Chelsea’s advances in the summer, but the Argentine’s future is up in the air at the moment.
His contract expires in 2028, and he has expressed his disappointment over not getting a new one.
“It makes me sad to see I didn’t get a new deal. But there is still time,” Mac Allister said in a pre-match press conference, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano. “I will give 100% until the last day I am here. We will see what happens.”
If Mac Allister is available, then, Chelsea should make a move for the Argentina international, who could be perfect for Xabi Alonso’s side.
Mac Allister ticks many boxes. At 27 years old, he has a lot of Premier League experience. Mac Allister also works extremely hard, running up and down the pitch, and has a real aggressiveness to his play at times.
He is tenacious and never afraid to make a tackle. That and the above are probably what Chelsea needed against Arsenal, who destroyed Alonso’s men in the middle of the park.
Mac Allister may have said no to Chelsea after an approach in the summer, but maybe things will be different next time around as his contract continues to run down.
Chelsea seem set on signing Scott or potentially Wharton, while Lamine Camara could still be an option after the collapse of his deadline day transfer. But out of all three of those midfielders and Mac Allister, I am going with the former Brighton man.
